Watch: Devils Maple Leafs Highlights 4/6/11

The last time the Devils took on the Maple Leafs was when they were playing well during the end of last season. It was good to see the Devils score on the power play. Also Brodeur made some big, timely saves. However, they can not give up any shorthanded goals like they did in this game.

Even though Toronto is one of the hotter teams currently in the NHL, the Devils can still pull out a victory if the play like they played against Los Angeles on their road trip. Hopefully we can see Brodeur in net on Wednesday.  Give the highlights a look.

Read: ESPN Power Rankings Week 5

ESPN’s weekly power rankings are out. It is obvious that the Devils are going to slip in the rankings due to their 1-3 road trip. ESPN brings up the point in that the Devils are 28th in the NHL on the power play. Another offensive stat that needs to change if the Devils are going to win more games. Give it a read. Spoiler alert: Surprise so far has been the Oilers. They make a huge jump from 25 last week to 2nd this week.

Injury Report: Martin Brodeur Comes Off IR

Martin Brodeur is coming off Injured Reserve after recovering from a bruised right shoulder. Coach Peter DeBoer has not said when Brodeur will start again. He is going to leave the decision up to Brodeur. It is possible we can see Brodeur in net either Wednesday at home when the Devils take on the Maple Leafs or on the road against the Philadelphia Flyers. Keith Kinkaid who took Brodeur’s spot on the roster has been sent back down to Albany.

Stat of the Day: Offensive Woes

The Devils are currently ranked 28th in the league in Goals Per Game with a 2.00 average. The Washington Capitals are leading the league with an average of 3.78. That is quite a high number that the Devils can not come close to but they need to get that average up. The lack of goal scoring has hurt them over the last couple games on their road trip out west. This is a rather troubling stat for a team that is suppose to have more offensive power with the return of Zach Parise.
