Player Of The Week: Magnificent Marty

I am giving this week’s Player of the Week award to Martin Brodeur. He played extremely well in the Devils 5 game win streak that ended against the St. Louis Blues (Hedberg was in net in the loss). He did play well in the loss the Florida Panthers on Saturday. The two goals he gave up there was nothing he could have done on those goals. So Marty’s strong play warrants him Player of the Week.

Player Of The Week: Red Hot Kovy

Even though the Devils as a whole have been red hot since the All Star break, there has been one player who’s doing a fantastic job with the Devils’ scoring explosion. So this week’s player of the week is Ilya Kovalchuk. In the last 4 games Kovalchuk had 3 goals and 7 assists. If he can keep this up the Devils can look to climb higher in the Eastern Conference standings.

Kovalchuk’s play has been so good that he was named the NHL’s 2nd star of the week behind Sam Gagner and ahead of James Reimer. Congrats to Kovy!
