Running Commentary: Devils 3-3 Flyers (Overtime)

Overtime
Danuis Zubrus to the box for boarding at 8:23.

Devils kill of penalty.  No shots for Flyers on the PP.

Bryce Salvador called for delay of game over glass penalty at 12:29.

3rd period
Five minutes in and the Devils are outshooting the Flyers 4-0.

Zach Parise gives the Devils a 3-2 lead at 7:29. Patrik Elias and Marek Zidlicky get the assists.

Ilya Kovalchuk hits the crossbar on 2-on-1 rush with 9:17 left in the game.

Daniel Briere ties the game at 3.

Third period comes to an end with a 3-3 tie. Shots 7-6 for Devils in third and 25-22 overall for the Devils.

2nd Period
Adam Henrique’s breakaway attempt stopped by Ilya Bryzgalov at 2:20.

Matt Carle scores the equalizer at 4:44.

Adam Larsson to the box for high sticking at 9:54.

Ilya Kovalchuk called for delay of game, puck goes over the glass with 3:32 left in the period. Poor call by the referees on that one. The puck clearly went off Matt Read.

Flyers’ goal waved off as  goalie interference is called on Brayden Schenn. Four-on-four hockey.

Game tied after two periods.  Flyers outshot the Devils 9-4 in the middle frame, but Devils outshooting Flyers, 18-16, through two periods.

1st Period
Adam Henrique in the box for tripping at 4:48. First power play for the Flyers.

Brayden Schenn gives the Flyers a 1-0 lead with a power play goal at 6:08.

Devils get their first power play of game. Braydon Coburn off for tripping at 12:09.

Its 1-1. Patrik Elias scores a power play goal at 12:33.  Assisted by Marek Zidlicky and Ilya Kovalckuk.

Twenty second later, Ilya Kovalchuk gives the Devils a 2-1 lead. Travis Zajac and Alexei Ponikarovsky get the assists on Kovalchuk’s goal at 12:53.

First period comes to an end. Devils with two goals after falling behind 1-0. Devils outshooting the Flyers 14-7 in the first. At one point, its was 4-0 in shots for the Flyers.

Running Commentary: Devils 4-1 Flyers (Final)

3rd Period
Marek Zidlicky off for elbowing and seconds later, Scott Hartnell off for holding. 4-on-4 hockey.

Adam Larsson scores his first career playoff goal in his first career playoff game at 3:08. Danius Zubrus and Peter Harrold get the assists.

David Clarkson scores to give the Devils a 2-1 lead with 8:43 left in the third period. Zach Parise with the assist.

Travis Zajac gives the Devils a 3-1 lead. Stephen Gionta with the assist with 5:59 left in the third period.

With 3:13 left in the third period, the Flyers, already on a power play, pull their goalie. 6-on-4 hockey for Flyers.

Bryce Salvador scores an empty-net shorthanded goal with 2:51 left.

2nd Period
Devils kill Flyers’ second power play of the game. No shots.

10 minutes into the second period and shots are 4-0 for Devils.

Devils dominate the second period but could not find the back of the net. Shots 12-2 for the Devils in the middle frame and 25-11 overall for the Devils.

1st Period
Matt Read scores at 2:53 to give the Flyers an early 1-0 lead.

Two shots on the Devils’ first power play of the game.

The Devils will get another chance on the power play. Kimmo Timonen is off for hooking at 9:26.

Stephen Gionta in the box for slashing at 14:58. Flyers’ first PP of the game.

Devils down 1-0 after 20 minutes. Shots 13-9 for the Devils. The Flyers will start the second period on the power play. Salvador called for interference as time ran out.
