Could Steve Spott land as Devils assistant coach?

The Devils are searching for assistant coaches and one name that could pop out is Kitchener Rangers’ head coach Steve Spott.

Spott worked under Pete DeBoer since 1997 until 2008, when DeBoer took a head coaching job with the Florida Panthers. He was an assistant under DeBoer with OHL’s Plymouth Whalers and later Kitchener Rangers, which he is now the head coach after DeBoer left.

However, Spott told Sunaya Sapurji of Yahoo Sports, “I have not spoken to Pete (DeBoer) about an assistant coach role in New Jersey.”

In four years with the Rangers, the 44-year-old coach has led his team to three straight playoffs appearances.
