After experimenting with some seriously strange line combos in the third period of last night’s win, Pete DeBoer went back to business as usual at today’s practice, including on defense.

Corey GriffinMark my words, Henrik Tallinder will be responsible for at least one goal Saturday. He and Volchenkov simply cannot matchup against Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin and with the Caps having last change again tomorrow, Adam Oates will find at least a handful of shifts to make sure his top offensive players are on the ice against that defensive pairing. As for Barch, I’ve said my peace, but I’m starting to think the Devils may have to live with him in the lineup for as long as Dainius Zubrus is sidelined — or at least until they can clear up a roster space. That could come if they decide to put Ryan Carter on IR or finally do something with the gut of defensemen on the roster. I’m not holding my breath for the latter, but Carter is possible if his “upper-body injury” doesn’t improve early next week.
