Devils’ owner still seeking for investors

Josh Kosman writes in the New York Post that Devils owner Jeff Vanderbeek is still looking for investors to purchase a majority stake in the team.

The talks, coming three weeks after the 55-year old former Wall Street executive seemed close to inking a deal with an investor to save the team, are leading some in the financial world to believe the deal has fallen apart.

Vanderbeek  is facing an August 14 deadline to get the Devils’ financing in order, but according to reports, putting a new deal in just a month will be hard.

The Devils owe creditors $80 million and without an investor, Vanderbeek risks having the NHL push him aside and taking control of the franchise.
