Pete DeBoer confirmed today that Ilya Kovalchuk was limited with a back injury throughout the Stanley Cup playoffs, according to Katie Strang of ESPN New York.
It was quite a bit under 100 percent, I can tell you that. It’s a back injury. It’s not like a broken bone where you have a real handle on it. But it wasn’t close to 100 percent.
Kovalchuk told Strang, “It doesn’t make any sense to talk about it now. It’s all over.”
Kovalchuk hopes surgery will not be required during the off-season.
