Sykora, Gionta, Hedberg want to stay with Devils

According to Tom Gulitti, Petr Sykora told reporters today that he thinks he showed that he can still play in NHL and his “priority” is to stay with Devils.

Sykora, 35, had 44 points (21 goals, 23 assists) in 82 regular season games.

Back-up goalie Johan Hedberg said he’d like to play next season, and would like to come back to Devils, but wants to talk to Lou Lamoriello again.

Hedberg, 39, went 17-7-2 during the regular season.

Stephen Gionta would like to stay with Devils. He told Rich Chere: “I’ve never had so much fun playing.”

Gionta played one game during the regular season, scoring a goal. In the playoffs, he had 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists).

All three men will be free agents on July 1st.
