Top Devils prospect to watch in Europe

Jared Ramsden of writes the Devils top proepsct to watch in Europe this season is LW/C Artur Gavrus.

Gavrus, a sixth-round pick, No. 180 overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, returned to his native Belarus this year after spending last season in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack. He plays for HK Neman Grodno in the Belarusian top division.

Ramsden writes about Gavrus,

Gavrus showed a lot of flash and high-end skill last season, scoring 37 points in 45 games, but missed a significant amount of game action with a wrist injury and two concussions.

Speaking to Tom Gulitti of Fire and Ice at the draft in June, Gavrus said he left Belarus to play in the OHL last year because he thought it was better preparation to give him a chance to play in the NHL.

Ramsden noted that the Devils went into the 2012-13 season without a European prospect after the rights to Swiss forward Mauro Jorg were not retained.
